Silangan Multi-Purpose Cooperative

What is Silangan Multi-Purpose Cooperative?

Silangan Multi-Purpose Cooperative is a home grown cooperative in Davao City organized in March 1990 by 25 original cooperators contributing P125,000.00 as initial paid-up capital. 

 

Silangan MPC is a community-based savings and credit cooperative that transacts to members only.

How to be a member?

Steps to become a member:

  • Fill-out the membership application form
  • Attend 15 to 20-minutes Pre-Membership orientation
  • Interview with the Branch Manager
  • Pay the initial investment

What are the membership requirements?

  • Attached to the form are the following requirements:
    • Photocopy of any government issued card
    • 1-piece recent 2x2 colored photo
    • Duly filled-out Subscription Form (Other requirements may be required)

In a cooperative, share capital refers to the funds raised by the cooperative through the issuance of shares to its members. Share capital represents the members' ownership stake in the cooperative and is a common form of financing for cooperative businesses.

What is a Regular Savings account?

Regular savings is the savings deposit account that comes with Silangan membership and one that every member must have. This account is linked to the member’s share capital account where the interests on share capital and patronage refunds are credited annually.

Membership Loans

Can I avail of a loan after membership?

Upon approval of their membership, every member has the opportunity to apply for loan products right away. However, this privilege is extended only after successfully passing the credit investigation and undergoing a thorough evaluation. While the credit facilities of Silangan MPC are accessible to all members, it's important to note that the loan approval process has distinct requirements separate from those for membership.

Applying for a loan is easy and these are the standard requirement:

  • Certificate of Employment and Compensation
  • 3 months Pay slip
  •     For Entrepreneurs

The loan requirements vary from each loan type and additional requirements may be required to properly evaluate the application.

Mortuary Program

What is your mortuary program?

The mortuary program of a cooperative, particularly within the context of the Cooperative Insurance System of the Philippines (CISP), is designed to provide its members with financial assistance to cover funeral or mortuary expenses in the event of a member's natural death. This type of program is essentially a form of life insurance, where members pay an annual premium of P1,160.00 to the cooperative in exchange for a specified mortuary benefit of P100,000.00 in case of their demise.

Co-Makers

Are loan co-makers have to be Silangan members, too?

  • Yes, co-makers must be Regular/Associate members of Silangan Multi-Purpose Cooperative in good standing, and they are limited to a maximum of two instances as co-makers.

A homegrown cooperative in Davao City, SILANGAN has been a 3-year recipient of the "Most Outstanding Cooperative for Large Category" in the city, putting it in the Hall of Fame.
